FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There are a variety of challenges a single mother faces on a day to day basis. These include but are not limited to the following: Feelings of being unworthy, unwanted, and inadequate. They struggle with their identity. Financial burden and not being able to financially support their children. Feelings of loneliness. They experience depression and anxiety. Trauma. Hopelessness. They feel as though they have lost control over their lives and what happens to them. They go through unhealthy boundaries and much more. REAL’s mission is to come alongside the single mother to help with growth in these areas.

REAL Single Moms is a community organization with Biblical Values. We believe that true transformation comes from being in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you have a single mom to refer to REAL please email momsconnect@realsinglemoms.org with the mother’s information. We will then reach out to her directly.

We would love to have you join our community. Please email momsconnect@realsinglemoms.org so we can send you our Events Calendar. Our closed Facebook page, REAL Single Moms Online Community, is a great place for you to join in on conversations, receive prayer and encouragement, and share community resources.

    • We would love to have you as a part of the team! There are several ways to volunteer, if you are interested in any of the following please email info@realsinglemoms.org expressing your interest in serving. We will then reach out to you.
    • Monthly Gathering Liaisons: These volunteers assist with helping set up Monthly Gatherings, assist with snack and drink refills, and assist with tear down. Our Monthly Gatherings will be held the 2nd Saturday of the month from 2-4 pm. Serving time is 1-4:30 pm. Locations vary in the OKC metro area.
    • LEAD Small Group Leaders: These volunteers host a small group of moms and their children one day a month during the 4th week of the month. This can be a weeknight or a weekend. The group can meet at locations in the metro or in the host’s home. Cost for the gathering is the responsibility of the individual moms or the host if they would like to host in their home. The purpose of these gatherings are conversation, fellowship, and encouragement.
    • Children’s Program: These volunteers assist at our Monthly Gatherings for our Children’s Program. These volunteers are responsible for their age group’s classroom set-up and tear down as well as providing care for the children during the event. The age breakdown is 0-2, 2-5, 6-10, and 11+.  If a volunteer does not have a current background check REAL will have one completed. All Children’s Program Volunteers volunteering with children ages 0-10 will have a co-volunteer with them. We have a more detailed breakdown of this role if needed.
    • Welcome Team: These volunteers serve as greeters to all our moms from 1:45-2:30 during our Monthly Gatherings. The goal is for each mom to be warmly welcomed.
    • Check-In & New Mom Welcome: These volunteers are responsible for checking moms in, helping with name tags, providing New Moms with a welcome packet, and directing moms to the children’s area and the mom’s area at our Monthly Gatherings.

Monthly Gathering Speakers: This is an opportunity for individuals who have a heart to pour in to the moms at our Monthly Gatherings. We typically have a topic for the speaker to cover. They are given a 45-50 minute window to cover their topic.
